How to Hire a Moving Company
Posted on January 18th, 2012
It’s easy to find a responsible mover to assist you in your move in the Austin area. There are many moving companies to compete for your business, and whatever you’re moving needs, you’re sure to find someone to suit you. Don’t begin by assuming that all moving companies will provide an equal level of service, though. Both their prices and their service can vary a lot, so it’s important to check them out carefully before choosing.
Hire a company based as close to your home as possible. There are plenty of Briarcliff moving firms for those who live in Briarcliff, Elgin firms for those in Elgin, et cetera. You don’t need to pay someone to come a long way to you. Check their credentials online or over the phone. You’re looking for someone who’s been in business for a while, who’s licensed, and who’s fully insured.
Ask what services are provided besides the basic moving. Some companies will provide packing materials, most will pack for you for a fee, and there are optional services. A company who gives an estimate slightly higher than others might save you even more in the way of discount boxes. Your total value will be a mixture of price and services.
The first stage is checking out online listings or estimates. The second is calling the companies to discuss the details of the packages they offer. The last stage is getting an in-home estimate. They should send someone to come look over your home and make a written estimate based on how much stuff you have. Try to find at least three companies to compare, since that will give you best idea of prices. If you’re not happy with your estimates find some more. The last thing you do is chose your mover and start packing.
